Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP for the Dreamville Records label. This was when she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her create Rihanna reference. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. She also appeared in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it came out on the 5th. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013 she released No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole in the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The song, launched with a music video on YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than 3 million times in the first seven days. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
